Image Policy
- All inspectors must adhere to the policy and ensure that all images are checked for clarity prior to saving each image.
- All damage lines recorded must show at least 1 primary image and 1 distance image.
- All primary images must show the image aid ruler with the size clearly visible inline with the damage. Line boards should be used if required. All distance images must show the image ruler placed by the damage recorded showing where the damage is in relation to the panel (excluding wheels and small components e.g. mirror backs).
- Odometer images must clearly show the vehicle mileage (not KM), if the vehicle is showing KM the inspector must amend this to show the mileage.
- If the vehicle cannot be imaged in accordance with this policy, management must be informed of the specific issue.

Correct Beauty image capture.
The following slides will show how to correctly frame and capture the required elements for each beauty image.
Odometer & wheel image
ODOMETER - Correct Odometer images must be in focus and wherever possible the rev counter must show the vehicle is running. It is important to note that these images must be clear & focused for future investigation should any questions be raised against the inspection. If the images are not clear or not in focus, we may be liable for upheld claims.
The full list of additional images we can take are listed below (some of these are mandatory)
- Centre Console (5 door, 3 door & 2-seater sports cars)

Damage capture imagery.
The following slides will show how to correctly frame and capture the required elements for each damage image.
Damage images
The policy for correct image recording is below and should be followed for every damage line entered;
Image 1 (Primary)
- Close up image of the primary damage (i.e., if dent WPD and the primary image is of the dent) the image must be clear, in focus and clearly support the damage selected. Image must be used to show confirm the size and severity.

Image 2 (Distance/Full Panel image.
- The second image taken must be a distance/full panel image shot showing where the damage is in relation to the panel with the ruler pointed to the damage. (this supports the correct damage description has been applied).

Additional Images 3 (secondary damage)
- These images should be used to show any additional damage that is secondary to the primary image (image 1). For the example - dent with paint damage where the paint damage is not in the same location as the dent.
- Full bumper repairs will require 2 distance images showing both corners of the bumper.
-
Minimum Requirements
- For a panel with only 1 damage the minimum image requirement is for 2 images
- Image 1 Primary
- Image 2 Distance/Full panel image.
Examples
Imaging windscreen damage
- Primary image showing the chip at just under 10mm

- Distance image showing exactly where on the screen the chip is situated

Imaging damage
- Primary image summarising the damage in a single shot

- Distance image showing exactly where on the vehicle the damage area is

Imaging wheels
- Primary image of the largest piece of damage

- Distance image. This shows the full circumference

Imaging missing components
Example: Parcel shelves missing should have images of where the parcel shelf would be with an image aid to show to support the missing component's usual location.
Missing Item board can be used as a secondary supporting image.
When imaging missing repair kits and charge leads etc, the images must show where the component is usually stored. Again, this can be supported with a secondary image of the missing items board.
Image examples for missing items:
- Compressor x2
- Parcel Shelf x2
- Headrest x1

This information board must only be used on missing items that would not be attached to the vehicle.
Acceptable use would be Keys, MOTs, Literature Packs etc.

Additional images
Image should be taken from the centre of the rear seats with the tablet in between the front headrests slightly raised and slightly angled down to the handbrake area and any option buttons. Check the image prior to saving.

Either rest the tablet against the headrest or the against the A post upper to steady the image. Attempt to image as much of the centre console as possible, Check the image prior to saving to ensure you have captured as many options as possible and the image is in focus.

Hint:
To obtain good image rotate the tablet 180 so that the camera lens is on the inside of the car. then either rest the tablet against the headrest or the against the A post upper to steady the image.
I, , confirm I have read and understand the above document 'Cox Automotive Inspection Routine' and agree to adhere to these standards.
