An update on how Andy is getting on
Here is an update of how the Igloo sponsored golfer Andy Cheese got on in July and August.
We are pleased to report that after Andy shot his first golf course record at Alwoodley Golf Club in the last update the great form has continued.
“July and August have been my best 2 months golf since deciding to play full time.”
After a stretch of 16 rounds throughout July and August, he produced a combined total of 23 under par, and 13 of the 16 rounds to even par or better.
Andy’s 3RD win of the season came at Telford Golf Club and a victory in the Midland Assistants Order of Merit Championship.
A trip back to on of Andy’s favourite course Notts Golf Club (Hollinwell) on the Players Tour and a round of 70 captured a 2nd place finish after shaving the hole with a 20 foot putt to force a playoff.
His lowest 18 hole score in competition came at Menzies Welcombe, a 65 helped him to a 2nd place finish in the Midland Assistants Order of Merit event. Then followed up with the lowest 18 hole score with the lowest 36 hole total to par. Two rounds of 66 at Kedleston Golf Club in the Midland Order of Merit gave Andy a 2nd place finish with 12 under par.
On Andy’s 25th birthday, he celebrated with a round of 66 at Birstall Golf Club in the Midland Open and a second round 71 gave him a top 5 finish.
A 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th place finishes in the 4 Midland Assistants Order of Merit events was enough to seal the title for Andy and become the Midland Assistants Order of Merit Champion!
As it stands Andy is currently 4th on the Midland Order of Merit with 2 of the 6 events left.
“My aim is to break into the top 3 after the final event to reach the PGA Playoffs in Turkey in November, where there will be a one in three chance of competing at the BMW Championship at Wentworth on the European Tour next May.”
